Right, I have heard instead of plugging your ethernet cable into your router you can plug it into your laptop which has a wireless internet connection. On the official Xbox website it tells you how to do this: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/connect/ics_xp.htm# but when i get to step 3 I get this error

Internet connection sharing cannot be enable
A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing';

you need an enthernet chord that connents from the back of your modem to your xbox 360. the ethernet chors either comes with your 360 but if you have the aracde it doesnt. but you can buy one from best buy or even target. :Ddog hair where can you purchase petri oil

How do i set up Xbox live through a Laptop?
I put the Ethernet wire in the laptop and its connected to the 360, when i go onto my Connection settings and tic the box where it says Internet Sharing and click ok it tells me that theres an ERROR and it cant be enabled, it also says that a LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing.....CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I have an XBOX 360 and 2 laptops. Xbox 360 was previously connected to Laptop A. Wireless conection was configured to share internet connection and this allowed the XBOX to connect to Live through the laptop. Recently, I have tried the same setup with my brothers laptop, Laptop B. It worked the same. However, my brother found some Malware and we restored his computer to factory settings for it to work. I went to reconfigure the laptop the same exact way again and it no longer works. Live Diagnostic run on the XBOX indicates an insufficient MTU. Connections show positive for network and internet but not live. I manually adjusted the MTU to the windows XP default in the registry. (1460) Problem persist. Any ideas on how to make this work? If it's a router, disable DHCP (automatic address assignment).
This will solve all your problems and provide a much more reliable Internet connection for the 360.

I just bought a three month trial to xbox live but im trying to figure out how to conect it to my xbox. I have wireless internet but do I need to buy a wireless adapter for the xbox too? I dont want to buy anything else. I also have a cord to connect from my laptop to my xbox. I dont get how ANY of this works. If you are using a wireless broadband USB stick for your internet connection for you laptop then you can't use that as a wireless connection for your 360 if that's what you mean (since the USB stick only receives the connection, not send one out).
If your router's connection doesn't reach your 360 then try moving the 360 closer to the router.Xbox live connection help?

I think you should spend the hundred dollars if you really want live that much.
