Create wireless connection on desktop to connect xbox live?

IM SO FED UP!!, i have a desktop connected to a fios(optic fiber) modem. so i have internet on the desktop, i also have a laptop which connects wirelessly to the fios modem so i have wireless connection as well. now i want to connect my xbox to the fios modem and its not going through, it shows that it wants to connect and then asks for an ip address. ive rebooted my modem a few times and no it doesnt help. i only have one network connection on my desktop and that is the local area connection (doesnt have the option to share connection). i was thinking of setting up a wireless connection and then ';allow sharing this connection etc.'; with that that option but i cant seem to figure out how to do it. any help to connect my xbox to the fios modem would be great help..

i used to use my laptop and then i made an idiot move of somehow uninstalling the ethernet controller and now every time i try re-installing it simply doesnt let me, apparently i have to take it to the store to get it fixed......but yes please any help would be greatly appreciatedCreate wireless connection on desktop to connect xbox live?
setting up your x box is simple go in the nic card settings and give the Xbox a static LAN IP it's really not that hard i promise
