In theory , yes u can. You need to create a network bridge in network connections in windows. One word of warning: it never, ever works properly :( i also think you will need a crossover (not str8 thru) ethernet cable to do this
Xbox live is a network, not something in your ethernet cable. There maybe parts of xbox live you can access over the internet, but xbox live is for xboxes. In order to access xbox live, you have to be running the xbox BIOS. When you mod an xbox, you no longer running a ';BIOS';. thats why people can no longer use moded xboxes over xbox live.
if you are trying to hook up to xbl by using you laptop as a router then yes connect to a wifi then go in to Network Connections high light ever thing in there and right click and go to bridge connection and now hook the Ethernet cable from the 360 to the laptop and sign in to live
