How can i connect to xbox live?

My friend has an xbox with live membership, but no wireless adapter. I have a laptop which is connected to the internet by a wireless router. And there is a plug within reach of the xbox which has a phone cable-like connector. So there are two questions.





1- Is there a way to connect to live without using the phone cable? Like i heard there's a way to use the laptop?





2- Would it cost money to use the phone cable? or would it connect using the same connection as the wireless router?

1. Yes, you can use a lap top to connect to xbox live.


2. It will not cost you any extra money other than an internet (ethernet) cable. You can find them at Best Buy and any store with a good tech. department.

1. You can run an indirect connection through your laptop.


2. A 360 cannot be directly connected to a phone jack. It uses an Ethernet cable which is larger than a phone cord and transfers more information at a higher rate. You need to connect your 360 to an Ethernet cable and then connect the cable to a modem or router. You have to set up and pay for internet service if you don't already have it.
dude just buy a router their like 30$ and an ethernet cable. unless you have a wireless router then buy a wireless adapter for you're xbox. they're ****** pricy, buy an ethernet cable for like 15$ and just roll with it. Ive never herd of using a phone cable pluse isn't that thing to small for the port in the back of the xbox.
