How to connect laptop to xbox 360?

i have a problem connecting the laptop to xbox 360.

i have win xp sp2. the laptop is wireless, connected to the router in another room. i connected the Ethernet cable that comes with the xbox to the laptop. i want to use the laptop wireless internet to use xbox live and transfer music and videos. i tried to share the connection. but i only have the option (tick box) to share internet in the network LAN adapter, and this option does not appear in the advanced tab of the wirless connection (i have only the option of firewall on\off). i turned off the firewall. tried also to bridge, also doesn't work. the xbox detects the wired connection to the laptop, but it doesnt get an ip address. i think the problem is i dont have the check box of internet sharing in the wireless network adapter properties, i dont know how to have this box to appear. How to connect laptop to xbox 360?
Since it sounds like you have a wireless router the easiest way to go wireless on a 360 is by using the wireless adapter made for the 360. That way you wouldn't have the hassle of powering up your laptop and your 360. Windows Media player has a feature that lets you connect to you 360 but it's only for streaming your music, photos and perhaps some internet content.
