How do you connect the XBox 360 to Xbox live with the wiring provided in the box?

I just got my Xbox 360 and i was wondering how to connect to the internet. I have a laptop i tryed using the cables provided to connect it from my laptop and it didnt work. Do I have to use the router for it or is there a way to connect it using my laptop? basically I need help connecting to XBox live. 1) If you want a wired connection, you'll have to plug your 360 into a router. This guarantees the best speed and less chance of lag.

You need to use the supplied cord (Ethernet Cord) connected to the only port it'll fit in on the back of Microsoft's XBOX 360. The other end of the Ethernet Cord needs to be plugged into a router or modem port. Simply a device that is receiving an internet connection. Many wireless routers have auxiliary LAN (Ethernet) ports you can put the other end of your Ethernet Cord into. Once that is done, purchase a subscription to XBOX LIVE and fill out the information and you should be ready to go.





Also, in the XBOX Dashboard you can test your connection to see if you can identify further problems. You will also need a broadband connection.
