How to connect Windows 7 laptop to XBox 360?

I have a laptop with Windows 7 and I'm trying to connect it to my Xbox 360 for XBox Live, but it says there is no connection. My laptop still gets an Internet signal though.How to connect Windows 7 laptop to XBox 360?
