I've seen some videos and i go to start, control panel, network connections, and I'm supposed to highlight both wireless and local area connection. However only my wireless network doesn't work when I plug the ethernet. How do I make both of them work. Be very detailed please/How do i connect to xbox live with an ethernet cord and a windows xp laptop?
If your computer or Laptop is with you, you can hook up thre ethernet you got with your 360 the computer and create an internet network bridge, however this has a lot of disadvantages as, obviously if your laptop is far away from the modem then your laptop wont have the best connection, which will give your xbox a not so great connection, your best off, jst leaving your laptop / computer on the log off screen so no internet is being used.

Use Internet Connection Sharing and plug your 360 into a Wireless laptop or PC. (can be useful if you dont want to buy the $100 wireless adpater or if your router is not near the 360.)
here is guide for ICS:

and if you want free Microsoft Points or Xbox LIVE codes, or anything else, i recommend using Rewards1. i thought it was fake, but then i tried it and i wanted to get 1600 MS points, so i gathered up enough points by answering surveys, and i put in a request, and in my email box there was a code for the 1600 MS points. i am so happy it works. so if you never want to have to pay for xbox LIVE or MS points, then you should try it. i am very successful with over 1000 referrals and have made over $150.

plug the ethernet into a port in your laptop, then plug it into your 360. select join xbox live at the menu. follow the prompts onscreen and your done
Heyy i did this recently basically go to start %26gt; connect to...%26gt; show all connections. then make sure your ethernet is connected to your pc and xbox then right click on wireless connection then click on the adavanced tab and make sure you click the first box which says share internet connection and only that apply then click ok (dont worry may load for abit) then your ethernet connection will not be connected propely until you turn your xbox on and then test xbox live connection once the ethernet connection is connected on your laptop. One unfortunate thing about this though is theres not way round strict nat which can sometimes affect gameplay online and it does lower your bandwith but is better than buying a network adapter
