I have an altell smartphone with tethering but im not able to use it with xbox live so i'm looking to either purchase a laptop connect car, or a mobile hotspot (ex. verizon mifi) my concerns are which would be compatible with xbox and xbox live, also which brand would be the best to use im completly lost i want to do this i just dont know how or if i can.... oh and how fast will 5GB go through with xbox live and possibly a computer on it.Need to connect xbox live to mobile internet be it laptop connect card or otherwise please help!?
you could connect the xbox through to the laptop directly with an ethernet cable (or via a switch) and set the laptop up for internet connection sharing. You can't use any wifi products directly into the xbox as only the official gear will work. I don't know what speeds you get locally, but I have the fastest mobile broadband card available in my country and connect at around 150Kbit/sec which in theory could do 65MB an hour, but I suspect you would have massively high latency and your lag would be unplayable.
XBL uses approx in one hour of gaming, 10MB download and 6MB upload.
